About The Studio

Our Story…

Luna Sol Pilates founders, Carrie Gifford and Sarah Gould-Waslohn met in 2014 when Carrie came into the Pilates studio where Sarah had been teaching at the time. Carrie was suffering from severe, chronic pain and Sarah (along with another instructor at the studio) taught Carrie to move her body with methods from contemporary Pilates. With Pilates, Carrie was able to reduce her pain significantly and feel better in her body. A few years later, Carrie became an instructor and Sarah helped in mentoring Carrie. The two taught side by side at a couple studios until 2020, when the studio where Sarah and Carrie had been teaching unfortunately closed its doors. With clients that needed a safe, reliable space for Pilates, the pair to decided to create their own studio. And in October 2020, Luna Sol Pilates first opened its doors.

Why “Luna Sol”?

When Sarah and Carrie decided to open the studio together, they created the name Luna Sol - luna (moon) to represent Sarah and sol (sun) to represent Carrie. A natural introvert, intuitive and night-owl, Sarah felt connected to la luna, the moon. Carrie, with more natural brightness, energy and radiance, felt more representative of el sol, the sun. It’s become a bit of a yin/yang idea for the studio, as we need both energies for balance. Balance is at the heart of Luna Sol Pilates. Carrie and Sarah each bring unique and important qualities that both compliment and challenge each other, which is what any successful partnership needs. The magic of our studio is the dance between the moon and the sun.
